Also, that blond little vixen who claims to be from Canada probably wished it was "just water" when she had to haul all her sewing gear to my house after storm #2.

i considered stocking up on wine and cheese, enough to get both me and my lush upstairs neighbor by for 4 days, a completely justified preparation tactic. think of waking up to a week of frozen, windy, wet, icky morning walks with the shih tzu only to find you had no booze?! That is cause for panic.

Regarding the xml not found...it does that sometimes. I've found that the importxml function is a little bit temperamental and sometimes just won't load it. I often have to just try back a few hours later. That's what you get for the price ;-)

Glad it could be useful to someone else!

I know that you can embed a spreadsheet in an webpage, but as far as pulling the data out of it as though it was a database? I don't know about that. It seems like you'd be better off skipping the middle man and just finding something that can render the XML as HTML.

By the way, the search on this site will still be available, even if I'm not writing. So you can always search there.

Also- I see that your xml file is no longer in its original location and as such your spreadsheet has responded in saying that you have 0 of the 500 songs

Reid- I'm glad I could track down this blog post in google reader as I'm planning on doing something similar to this in creating and keeping track of playlists for our wedding reception.
On a different note, I'm sure you know how to do it if it's possible, but is there a way to take data from a spreadsheet in google docs and then render it on a webpage (I assume by using the Google Docs API)?

I'm a little late to the game, but wanted to thank you for this post, Reid. I'm glad you and Katie had such a fantastic experience, and I loved reading about it. But also, it makes me feel better about an extravagant dinner Zac and I are planning for our trip to Chicago in two weeks. Twenty-four courses! Of course, a number of them are just a single bite, but still. I keep having little attacks of "Really? We're going to spend that much money on FOOD?" but you make an excellent point about the value of spending money on a truly memorable meal.
